Insurance Coverage or Denial of Claims

What types of insurance coverage are there?

Insurance coverage consists of two basic types. The first type of insurance coverage you buy protects your health, your belongings, and/or your self against injury or illness. This is called first party insurance. The point is that the insurance company pays you or someone acting on your behalf. The premiums you pay end up translating into payments by the insurance company to you for loss or damage to your belongings.

The second type of coverage is what is known as third party coverage. That is coverage to protect you against claims or lawsuits brought against you by other persons or businesses. If you are involved in an accident in your car, and somebody claims it is your fault, and they make a claim or bring a lawsuit, you turn that over to your third party liability insurance company, generally known as your automobile insurance company.
